Many tourists arrive in El Cuyo appreciating the beauty of the town, enjoying activities in the  immediate vicinity by themselves, but not fully taking advantage of what El Cuyo and the Reserva de la Biosfera de Ria Lagartos have to offer.  With the services of a guide your horizon can broaden and include one or more of the following activities: 

1.  Exploring the laguna in a kayak.

2.  Going by bicycle to the mouth of the river and  seeing many coastal birds, crocodiles, and "ojos de agua" (freshwater springs).

3.  Again by bicycle, traveling the shore of the laguna and seeing birds, wild animals such as deer, fox, badgers, armadillos, land turtles, and many more.

4. Boating through the laguna of El Cuyo to the village of Las Coloradas to see the flamingos.  This is one of the most enjoyable tours you will find and one that we are confident you will not forget.

Traveling by way of the Laguna (lagoon) permits you to see birds and wild animals near the shore that you would never see in the villages or towns.  You'll see the mountains of salt of Las Coloradas and then the flamingos in their natural state.  We highly recommend this tour to you and believe it is an opportunity to see a wonder of nature that you will not see in any other part of the world.

5.  Going by boat to fish off the shore of El Cuyo.

6.  Again by boat, roaming the emerald waters of El Cuyo, becoming acquainted with the marsh habitat, diving at Punta Caracol, and viewing various "ojos de agua" as they discharge fresh water into the saltwater sea.

7.  Touring by boat to view a sunken hull off the shore of El Cuyo.

8.  Going by boat to the Isla de Holbox, visiting the "ojos de agua" of Yalahao, Isla Pasion, and Holbox.

9.  A tour by boat to the Chiltepec inlet where you will observe aquatic birds, crocodiles and thick
mangroves that form tunnels.

10.  Birdwatching from the coastal dunes or Sacboh mountain. In order to do these ten activities and tours it is necessary to contract a guide from the area as his or her knowledge of each place and overall experience will ensure maximum enjoyment from each activity.  In addition, you can have confidence that your safety and security needs are being attended to.
